Diagnosis Can Change Over Time2025-02-24

To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.

Winston Churchill

In medicine, as in life, things change for a person. Their internal conditions, external factors, treatments that they are on, lifestyle, thoughts and outlook on life, can all change over time. Who a person is today, in a bio-socio-psychological way, can be very different than who they were in the past.

As such, sticking a diagnostic label on somebody, while useful initially, can become inaccurate and even counter-productive over time, if not changed and updated.

In psychiatry in particular, proper, precision psychiatry guided, treatment can transform somebody’s life and be essentially curative. Somebody who was diagnosed with a label, right or wrong at that time, can be a completely different person when analyzed comprehensively now. So while family history and personal history may have been informative initially, what really matters is the present state, and insights about future risk to be mitigated. That is what we are doing with our MindX One blood testing, Life x Improve digital screening, and Life x Mind app.
