Mental Health and Longevity2025-09-29

Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes.

Jimmy Buffett

Most people think that suboptimal mental health leads to shorter lives due to indirect poor lifestyle choices, addictions, or even suicides.

But there is a more direct and active relationship, at a biological level, between good mood, optimism, and longevity. It engages organismal resources in repair and rejuvenation, and may share the same dopamine-driven biology as the placebo response.

Our MindX One Blood Testing has as one of its panels of biomarkers an active longevity panel, that not only gives a score, but the means to improve it, by matching the individual to medications and nutraceuticals in a personalized fashion.

We will study and document in the upcoming years how sunlight and optimism increase longevity, as seems to be happening in the Blue Zones. (There are no Blue Zones in gloomy and cold geographic areas. For people there, we recommend well-timed vacations in sunnier climes, light therapy boxes, and, even more so, the MindX One Blood testing).
