Revolutionizing Mental Health and Pain with Precision Biomarkers.2026-06-15

We truly now have the opportunity to reap the full potential of individualized medicine... The road ahead must be focused on expanding our genomic tools and further integrating individualized medicine. We've only just begun to glimpse what is possible.

Dr. Gianrico Farrugia, CEO of the Mayo Clinic

Most areas of medicine have biological markers (biomarkers) that permit you to do one or more of the following four things: assess disease state, predict future risk, monitor response to treatment, match patients to the right medications/treatments.

Until recently, mental health and pain had no such biomarkers. That created diagnostic and treatment problems, leading to poor outcomes.

Our work over the last two decades in academic research, and more recently in the real world at MindX Sciences (https://mindxsciences.com/ ), has provided patients and clinicians such biomarkers, able to do all four things mentioned above.

First, this leads directly to a revolution in how mental health and pain can be treated. Precision prescribing of medications for mental health and pain is a game changer. Second, it has wider implications for improving outcomes in medicine in general, where the dark matter of mental health and pain is pulling down outcomes. Third, it leads to a transformation in society, where biology and treatments replace stigma and uncertainty.

Live. Happier. Longer.
